Dr. Harry Boyle served as the president of Boston Baptist College 1986 until 2005 and has been associated with the college since its inception. On July 1, 2005, Dr. Boyle was honored with the title of Chancellor. Dr. Boyle is the founder and continues to serve as the pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Portland, Maine. He was saved as a young man in the Air Force, and, while still serving in the military, he pursued his education at West Texas State University, earning a Bachelor’s Degree as well as a Master of Education Degree. He also received his doctorate from Faith Baptist Seminary.
Dr. Boyle, while still leading his church in Maine – two hours north of the Boston Baptist College campus, is often in Boston preaching in chapel and visiting with students. He is accessible to the students, leading by example. Dr. Boyle and his wife, Georgia, have four children and eight grandchildren.
President
After nine years of administrative service to Boston Baptist College, Rev. David Melton was named the third president of the college in July 2005. He has served churches in New Hampshire, Oklahoma, Missouri and Massachusetts, and has served in chaplain capacities for colleges, universities, and a major league baseball team. Melton is the founding pastor of the MetroWest Baptist Church, a growing congregation in Wellesley, Massachusetts, where he continues to lead a thriving church family in Boston’s western suburbs. Melton is a nationally-known speaker and keeps a busy schedule in churches, colleges and conferences.
As an academic, President Melton continues to teach each semester, focusing on his dual interests in the ongoing research into the historical Jesus, as well as the nature and mission of the New Testament churches in the Greco-Roman world. His academic preparation includes degrees from New England Baptist College, the University of Oklahoma and the Harvard Divinity School. He has done additional graduate research at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as well as Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
Melton and his wife, Kim, live in Wellesley, Massachusetts, with their four sons. Their family not only enjoys the college and church life together, but keeps an incredibly active family schedule as well. David is a Little League Dad, a history buff, loves to travel in Europe, a poor but aspiring golfer, a dyed-in-the-wool Boston Red Sox fan, and an avid reader. Kim, his best friend and wife, travels with him when she can, and holds down the home front with the boys, Dave, Samuel, Matthew and Joshua.
Vice President for Academic Affairs
Pastor Ken D. Gillming took the helm as Vice-President of Academic Affairs at Boston Baptist College on June 30, 2008. Ken had served with distinction as the Senior Pastor of the Cherry Street Baptist Church in Springfield, Missouri. His service of 31 years in one church equipped him in various ministry facets. As well, Pastor Ken taught at Baptist Bible College (Springfield, Missouri) on a part-time basis for 15 years. In 2006 Ken was elected to serve the Baptist Bible Fellowship International as 2nd Vice-President of Education overseeing our colleges. In addition to being the chief academic officer Ken teaches several classes. He is a graduate of Baptist Bible College in Springfield and has earned an MA in history from Missouri State University in Springfield, Missouri.
Vice President for Operations
Rev. Randall Ward took the position of Vice President for Operations in July, 2005. Ward spent several years on the staff of High Street Baptist Church, Springfield, Missouri, where he served as Singles Pastor and, eventually, Executive Pastor. Rev. Ward earned a degree in Accounting from Southwest Missouri State University, and a Master of Divinity degree from Baptist Bible College Graduate School.
Rev. Ward and his wife, Kelly, have four children: Gabriel, Rachel, Gracyn, and Hannah.
Director of Enrollment Services
Grace Snavely serves as Director of Enrollment Services. Mrs. Snavely has been in the education field for thirty years. Having taught on the elementary, middle school, and high school levels, Mrs. Snavely now teaches education and English courses as well as fulfilling the role of registrar. Snavely’s undergraduate degree is from New England Baptist College, and she holds a Master’s degree in Education from Liberty University. She has done further graduate work at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and Harvard University.
Director of Admissions
Karen Fox heads the Admissions Department at Boston Baptist College. She and her husband, Noah, moved to Boston from northern Virginia. Mrs. Fox coordinates the logistical operations of the LIFT Camp Ministries throughout the summer. The Foxes have four children: Allison, Cassie, Abby, and Aaron.
Director of Financial Aid
Joseph Sawyer directs the Financial Aid program for Boston Baptist College as well as serving as Community Relations Liaison. Mr. Sawyer’s education includes an Associate degree in Computer Programming from Greenville Technical College in Greenville, South Carolina. After retiring from a very successful self-owned business, the Sawyers moved to Boston to begin the next phase of their lives. While continuing his education, Mr. Sawyer and his wife spend a lot of time counseling students and leading teams on summer trips to China and other mission fields. Mr. Sawyer and his wife, Karen, have three children and seven grandchildren.
Director of External Communications
Scott Anderson has been the Director of External Communications since 2006. He has his hands in most of the print media and video productions as well as the college’s website and newsletter, The Bostonian, and whatever else aids Boston Baptist College in sharing what God is doing in Boston.
Scott is also a very gifted communicator. Scott on Wheels is his ministry that he founded in which he travels all over the world sharing how that with Christ, all things are possible. He has spoken all over the country and in more than 15 countries – even to the Chinese army in communist China.
Scott was blessed in an incredible way by marrying Sara in December 2007.
