New Testament History ~ BSTH221

The religious, historical, and cultural contexts of the New Testament world are critical elements in the proper understanding of the New Testament writings. Focus is given to the political realities of the times, the significant social and religious movements, and the relationship of all of these and other elements with the emerging Christian movement. Both biblical and extra-biblical sources are reviewed in establishing the historical background for the events and writings of the New Testament. Recommended prerequisites: BSTH 121, BSTH 122. 3 hours.
