As one of the core Language Arts requirements, ENGL111 is structured to enhance the student’s knowledge of basic writing techniques as well as English grammar. It emphasizes the development of the skills necessary for effective composition. Special attention is paid to general sentence structure, paragraph organization, and writing style. The writing intensive format stresses editing and rewriting of original compositions. An overview of the various documentation styles culminates with the formal research project in which academic argument and support of that argument are of primary importance.
