The readings examined include a variety of ancient writings, primarily of Near Eastern origin. Topical areas include legal, ethical, religious, historical, cultural, wisdom, poetic, and ritualistic beliefs as recorded by ancient native authors. Comparisons from biblical and other historic texts are drawn.
