Environmental Science ~ SCIE141

Environmental science is an interdisciplinary study that describes problems caused by human use of the natural world. It also seeks remedies for these problems. To learn about this complex field of study, it helps to understand three things: First, it is important to understand the natural processes (both physical and biological) that operate in the world. Second, it is important to appreciate the role that technology plays in our society and its capacity to alter natural processes as well as solve problems caused by human impact. Third, it helps to understand the complex social processes that characterize human populations. Students will integrate that understanding with knowledge of technology and natural processes to fully appreciate their roles in the natural world. This approach informs students with the broadest understanding of how to think about various solutions to environmental problems.
